Happy New Year, Everyone!
Happy New Year, everyone! New year, same me. I’ve given up on making resolutions but it can’t hurt to have a few reading/writing ones. I think that’s where I’m looking to make the most improvement.
Last year, my reading goal was 52 books and I ended up reading 132! This year, I decided to aim slightly higher and went for 100. I think I can do better than 132 as well. I felt sick for much of November and December, and that really limited my reading abilities.
I have a bunch from last year’s “currently reading” shelf that will count towards 2018, like Manhattan Beach (which I’m enjoying more than I thought I would), two graphic novels: Hostage and The Hunting Accident, and a slew of others.
I’m also proud of myself for branching out last year, reading outside of my usual genres. I read more science fiction, graphic novels, etc. I’m going to try harder to do the same this year.
It’s also the Book of the Month’s release of new selections. Of course I picked them out as soon as I woke up and logged on. I was SO stoked to see Red Clocks on there, which means I’ll get it before the release date even. I also added Two Girls Down and The English Wife. There are so many books coming out this year, I’m excited for them all.
Other than that, we don’t have much on tap this year. We might try to do a trip to the West Coast. However, if you ask my mom’s psychic, there’s a baby on the horizon for us! My mom went to a psychic a few weeks ago, who told my mom that we’ll have a baby before the end of 2018. I grimaced when my mother repeated the information to me, and she responded with, “what makes you so sure? you don’t even use protection.” Ugh, one personal resolution for 2018? Stop sharing private information with my mother.
